Deborah Gabinet is a singer-songwriter who has defined herself and her original music as ‘CELT ECLECTIC‘ weaving diverse musical skills and experience with the colorful threads of celtic folk music. Deborah’s original songs fuse her classical background with celtic, pop, jazz, blues and contemporary folk genres.
A classically trained singer and pianist Deborah’s rich mezzo-soprano voice is accompanied by her versatile piano skills and celtic-style accordion playing.
A true ‘Canadian artist’ she received her musical education in the middle of Canada, (raised as an ‘adoptee’ in Manitoba) directed her own teaching studio in the west of Canada (Sounding Joy Music Studio, Vernon BC) and is now composing, recording and performing original music in eastern Canada. (St.Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia)
On a visit to Nova Scotia in 2008, Deborah was so inspired by the sounds and textures of the ocean that she uprooted her life again to follow her muse; the Atlantic Ocean.
The move to the Maritimes has resulted in her newly released full length CD ‘Real and Alive-O’ inspired by the St. Margaret’s Bay area where she presently lives and teaches children’s choirs, private music lessons and is musical director of Unicorn Theatre.
